Koa also known as Acacia Koa is exclusively from the Hawaiian Islands where it is the second most common tree. In Hawaiian, Koa means bold, brave and fearless. It grows at a variety of altitudes in the islands from sea level to the volcanic mountains. Koa is used to build outrigger canoes, surfboards but most is most famous for ukuleles.

“Jasper” means speckled stone and is an aggregate of quartz, chalcedony and various minerals. Jasper can be brown, red, green, yellow, blue or a combination of those colors. Red is most common because of the iron content. Blue is considered rare. Agate is made up of cryptocrystalline silica with quartz. Agate is a variety of colors and is typically associated with volcanic rocks. Copper is the inlay. It is found in multiple states in the U.S. including Utah, Arizona, Montana, Michigan and New Mexico.

Red opalite is made of dolomite, opalized fluorite and quartz. Copper is found in multiple states in the U.S. including Utah, Arizona, Montana, Michigan and New Mexico. It is very malleable and has a beautiful reddish-brown color.

The legs are custom-made and imported from Poland. The finish contains six coats of Tung oil; carefully sanded after each coat. Tung oil brings out the unique characteristics of the curly koa. Wood does expand and contract making it subject to slight checking, cracking and movement. To maintain the beauty of the curly koa avoid using cleaning solutions instead use water in a damp rag. Remove the excess moisture with a clean towel. For polishing a beeswax solution such as Howard Feed-N-Wax or Artisan Lemon Oil Wax is good. Just follow the directions from the manufacturer.
