This is a live edge walnut gaming table that has chrysocolla, red opalite, and copper inlay. The table dimensions are 50” long, by 22” at the widest point and 36” high.

Walnut (Juglans) is found in North America, Europe, South America, and Asia as there are 21 different species. The name walnut is old English, wealhhnutu, meaning “foreign nut” as it was imported from Italy. The tree can grow to a height of over one hundred-forty feet. Walnut is a hard, dense wood with a medium to tight grain depending on the species. The heartwood is dark, but many species have unique patterning that includes a medium chocolate brown color. The sap wood is typically a cream color. This walnut is from Iowa.

Chyrsocolla is a hydrated phyllosilicate mineral. It comes from Greek chrysos meaning ‘gold’ and kola ‘glue’ although its color is typically a combination of blue and green. Chyrsocolla is found in the United States in Arizona, Utah, New Mexico. Michigan, Pennsylvania and Idaho. The Chyrsocolla used in this table is from Arizona. Red opalite is made of dolomite, opalized fluorite and quartz. The inlay also includes copper which is found in multiple states in the U.S. including Utah, Arizona, Montana, Michigan and New Mexico. Copper is very malleable and has a beautiful reddish-brown color that accents the Walnut.  

The finish contains eight coats of Tung oil; sanded after each coat. Tung oil brings out the unique characteristics of the wood. The legs are from custom-made from Ted Landoll in Butler, OH (his ETSY store). Wood does expand and contract making it subject to slight checking, cracking and movement. To minimize wood movement, cracking, checking or slight warping use water in a damp rag. Remove the excess moisture with a clean towel.
